Tennis legend Maria Sharapova has been enjoying a mid-Autumn vacation in Corfu, Greece.
The Russian veteran player, who according to Forbes, has been the highest-paid female athlete in the world for 11 consecutive years and earned US$285 million, uploaded photos from her Corfu vacation on Instagram writing “Catching the last summer rays in Greece.”
Corfu is among the most beautiful islands in Greece
She also cruised on a private yacht on distant coves of the beautiful Ionian island. Corfu is one of Greece’s most beautiful and storied islands.
Its breathtaking scenery, mountain ranges and beaches are amongst the most unforgettable in the country, and its blend of cultural histories and influences –French, English, Venetian, and, of course, Greek — will leave you with a unique understanding of how the culture of the Ionian Islands developed.
Corfu, unlike the rest of Greece, never fell under Ottoman oppression. The island has primarily become part of the Western rather the Levantine world. Today is one of the most cosmopolitan Mediterranean destinations weaving a powerful spell on its visitors.
