Heels star Stephen Amell showed off how he recovers after preparing for his role in the Starz wrestling drama.
“We have five more days of shooting Heels, we’re about to do the marketing shoot. I’m here with my trusty videographer assistant,” Amell said in the video which was filmed by his daughter, Maverick. Amell then submerges himself in an ice bath, and promises viewers that they will “enjoy the second season.” “Season finale work & recovery. Maverick on the camera,” Amell wrote in the caption.
This isn’t the first time Amell has offered a behind-the-scenes look at his training regimen for the series. In April, the actor shared another video of his superhero-level workout routine, which involved curling what was likely between 105 to 120 pounds. At the time, Amell was in Atlanta, GA filming for Season 2 of the Starz wrestling drama, Heels, in which he stars as Jack Spade.

Heels‘ second season was officially announced in November 2021. Season 1 premiered on Starz in August of that year after lengthy production delays related in part to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, as well as a back injury sustained by Amell while performing a stunt. “I actually fractured my hip when I did that and didn’t realize it,” Amell said of the stunt in July 2021. “I got a note from Big Show, ‘Nice Coast to Coast. That looked pretty stiff.’ And at the time, I felt like I was sitting on a tennis ball. Like, I didn’t know what was going on.”
Prior to his starring role on Heels, Amell portrayed the titular Oliver Queen/Green Arrow on The CW’s long-running Arrow series for eight seasons, from which the Arrowverse would get its name. Arrow would inspire a number of spinoff series, including The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman and Superman & Lois. It has been reported that Season 2 of Heels may also include Arrow tie-ins, though these reports have not been confirmed and there is no indication of what those tie-ins could be.
In a recent interview, Amell said that should he ever get the opportunity to reprise his role as Green Arrow, he would want to take it to a much different — potentially bloodier — place. “Oh, sure. I owe so much to the people of DC, The CW, and Warner Bros. Television,” Amell said about a potential return to the franchise.
